Multicanonical Hybrid Monte Carlo in Compact QED
Abstract: Simulation of 4-dimensional compact QED close to its phase transition using Wilson action is hampered by long metastabilities. Considerable progress can be achieved in the study of the phase structure by a jointuse of hybrid Monte Carlo and multicanonical algorithms. Taking advantage of their global nature the merged algorithm allows an efficient parallel implementation. We observe a remarkable speedup of tunnelling between the metastable states of the system. We present a status report of a project that aims at a conclusive finite size scaling analysis of compact QED on the Wilson line.
