How well do domain wall fermions realize chiral symmetry?

Abstract: In the domain wall fermion formulation, finite separation of the domain walls produces exponentially suppressed breaking of chiral symmetry. We present a number of strategies to determine the degree of chiral symmetry for finite separation and report a variety of calculations at both zero and finite temperature which address this question and suggest methods for improvement. The finite temperature case is particularly important as one would like to keep the effective quark mass unchanged while moving through the transition region.
