Solving the fermion sign problem for staggered fermions

Abstract: We test a new and general method to explore models which have a severe fermion sign problem. We examine (3+1)-dimensional massless staggered fermions with a four-fermion interaction. We observe spontaneous symmetry breaking in this model with the predicted critical behavior of the 3-dimensional Ising model. This behavior was previously unobservable. We also explore non-zero chemical potential.
