The non-zero baryon number formulation of QCD
Abstract: We discuss the quenched limit of lattice QCD at non-zero baryon number and derive a formulation of thermodynamics of gluons in the background of static quark sources. The deconfinement transition is investigated on $8^3x2$, $10^3x2$ and $16^3x4$ lattices at baryon number densities of $n_B/T^3$=0.031 and 0.063. Heavy quark potentials and the chiral condensate are calculated on $16^3x4$ lattices. We find evidence for a mixed phase and for string breaking. We also discuss the density dependence of the chiral condensate.
