A proposal of lattice simulation for quark confinement based on a novel reformulation of QCD

Abstract: In the novel formulation propsed by the author, the gauge fixing part in 4-dimensional QCD reduces to the 2-dimensional nonlinear sigma model (NLSM) due to the dimensional reduction in the maximal Abelian gauge. The area law of the Wilson loop in 4-dimensional QCD is deduced from the instanton contribution in 2-dimensional NLSM. We propse a lattice simulation which confirms this mechanism for quark confinement in QCD.
