New tests of the gauge-fixing approach to lattice chiral gauge theories

Abstract: We explore the gauge-fixing approach for chiral gauge theories on the lattice. In this talk we focus on the pure bosonic sector of an abelian model, employing a class of gauge-fixing terms. Some of the counterterm coefficients are determined to one-loop order in perturbation theory. The continuum limit has to be performed at the phase transition between the Higgs phase and a so-called FMD phase where the gauge field condenses. We show that in this continuum limit the spectrum contains the desired free massless photon and that a scalar (Higgs) state with quantum numbers $J^{PC}=O^{++}$ does not exist.
