Solving the Sign Problem in 2-D SO(3)

Abstract: We explore the possibility of using meron cluster algorithms to simulate a quantum field theory at non-zero chemical potential. Using a 2-D SO(3) spin model with a chemical potential coupled to the magnetization as a toy model for QCD, we construct an algorithm for simulations in this model which uses cluster techniques to solve the sign problem.
